Quality Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists (OTs) address each patient's ability to perform the following:

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Bathing and dressing
  • Personal hygiene & grooming
  • Eating & feeding
  • Home management

Perception/Cognition

  • Coordination
  • Executive functions

Upper Extremity Functioning

  • Adaptive equipment training
  • Strength, range of motion
  • Coordination & sensation splinting

Safety Awareness

  • Body image & scheme
  • Precautions post surgery
  • Energy conservation

The treatment plan for short-term rehab patients also includes homemaking and re-entry programs. In fact, our rehabilitation gym contains a portion dedicated to a kitchen area where patients practice their food prep and cooking skills. Here, OTs supervise patients' home management skills to assure safety upon returning home. Prior to discharge, a comprehensive home assessment is completed.
